Local
Recycling Efforts in High Gear
A coalition of local agencies, including the City
of Idaho Springs, the Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation
District, the Transfer Station, Rite of Passage, and
the Clear Creek County Open Space Commission, was
recently awarded a grant that provided us 60 recycling
bins.
The grant was sponsored
by
Coca-Cola
and the National Recycling Coalition.
The local coalition
has been placing the bins in public places, including
City Hall and the Rec Center, and in businesses around
town to encourage recycling.
We will apply for the
grant program again to try and obtain different bins
that can be used in outdoor locations such as parks.
As a
community service, our young citizens at the Colorado
Qualifying House (CQH) of Rite
of Passage
have been volunteering to take the recyclables
to the Transfer Station as a community service.
